WELCOME TO THE DERBYSHIRE PROBATION AREA WEBSITE
This site aims to inform you about the organisation, role and work of Probation in Derbyshire and to provide links to other Criminal Justice Service agencies and other organisations with whom we work closely. We hope to explain clearly how the Probation Service in Derbyshire aims to achieve its mission to protect the public through reducing re-offending.
The Criminal Justice Act of 2007 allowed Probation Services to change to Probation Trusts, with more local autonomy over the management and delivery of service, and for more services to be provided by the private and voluntary sector. Derbyshire Probation became a Trust on 1 April, 2010. These changes will present both challenges and opportunities for the service in Derbyshire.
