Derbyshire Probation Area offers a variety of career opportunities for people who enjoy a challenging and rewarding position. Below are brief outlines of positions and the required minimum standards for applications. Probation Officer (graded posts)We are interested to hear from Probation Officers who want to work for one of the country's most progressive services. Applicants must possess either the Certificate of Qualification in Social Work, the Diploma in Social Work or the Diploma in Probation Studies. Opportunities are available through promotion to Senior Probation Officer, where you will manage a team of Probation Officers and Probation Service Officers.
Probation Service OfficerAs a PSO you will assist with the supervision of offenders and with the provision of information about offenders and the Probation Service to courts and partnership organisations. Training involves completing NVQ level 3 in Criminal Justice.
Community Payback OfficerAs a CPO you will supervise offenders on Community Sentences.
Community Payback SupervisorAs a CPS you will supervise offenders in work groups undertaking Unpaid Work on practical projects. You wilkl work for one or more days in the week, or at weekends. You will possess supervision skills and practical skills to a good DIY stasndard.
Administration and SupportAdministrative Officers provide secretarial and administrative support in all aspects of Probation Service work with offenders, the courts and the public. Applicants should possess at least RSA 3 typing and word processing qualifications, have audio typing experience and possess good communication skills.
