Derbyshire gains 3 Star Award

Derbyshire Probation Area has been awarded 3 Stars by the independent British Quality Foundation (BQF), which runs the internationally recognised UK Excellence Award scheme.  This recognises organisations’ successes in using the principles of Excellence in the running of all their operations.

To achieve the award, Derbyshire Probation had to produce a 75-page submission documenting the processes and actions taken in order to deliver continuous and measurable improvements on organisational performance.  This was followed by a 5-day assessment by BQF assessors who not only looked at all areas of Derbyshire Probation’s performance, but who also interviewed dozens of staff.

Denise White, Derbyshire Probation’s Chief Officer said;

“I am immensely proud of the organisation and of the staff; all of whom have contributed to our being able to achieve this recognition.  The award shows that we have a proven track record for improving organisational performance, and through that we are able to ensure we continue to provide the best probation services.  By continuing to follow the Excellence Model we will remain best equipped to manage offenders under our supervision and thus to best continue to ensure Derbyshire is a safe place to live.”

Gaining the recognition is only part of the journey as Derbyshire Probation Area will continue to review and to focus on best practice. 

Derbyshire Probation Area already holds the Investor in People accreditation and the Charter Mark, awarded for excellence for customer service, as well as being recognised by the government’s Positive about Disabled People scheme.
